Reciprocal Borrowing
The Bremen Public Library (BPL) currently has reciprocal agreements with the following area libraries:
- Argos Public Library
- Culver-Union Township Public Library
- Elkhart Public Library
- Middlebury Community Public Library
- Mishawaka-Penn-Harris Public Library
- Nappanee Public Library
- Plymouth Public Library
- Wakarusa-Olive and Harrison Township Public Library
- Walkerton-Lincoln Township Public Library
- Many other public libraries throughout the state
BPL cardholders may check out materials (some restrictions may apply) from the above library systems. Please note that some of the above libraries may require BPL cardholders using the reciprocal borrowing system to apply for a library card. Please check with the reciprocal library for their reciprocal borrowing policy.
If you borrow an item from a different library under this policy, you are responsible for the item just as you are when you borrow from us. You are also bound to that library’s borrowing policies. The loan period and late fees may be different from ours. Although participation in the program is free, you are responsible for any late or damage fees you accrue. You also must return the item to the library system from which you borrowed it.
Cardholders from these libraries may check out materials (some restrictions apply) from BPL. To receive a reciprocal card from BPL, the borrower must be in good standing with their home library. The borrower will need to show us their ID and their home library card.
Reciprocal library cards are free of charge.
